SPD Emergency!
In the far off year of 2025 (...this show is from 2005.), aliens and humans have come to coexist on planet Earth. However, with more creatures, comes more defense. To be the heroes, Space Patrol Delta's Earth branch is established by Doggie Cruger. The main operatives are the Power Rangers, defenders of Earth! However, when the Troobian Empire comes to invade Earth, the main A-Squad rangers go MIA, leading the super-powered B-Squad to take their place.
Shortly after the first three B-Squad members gain their morphers and transform for the first time, two new members who are similarly powered ex-criminals of the Robin Hood variety join the team, with one even becoming the leader. Joined by their commander Doggie Cruger, the futuristic Omega Ranger, and the scientist Kat Manx, the B-Squad fights for Earth's freedom.
Favorite Characters!
Anubis "Doggie" Cruger a.k.a. SPD Shadow Ranger
He's my favorite Power Ranger of all time from any series! His tough demeanor but kind inside is really fun, and he works fantastic as the kind of straight man among the stranger B-Squad rangers. His arc of forgiving himself for Isinia's death is REALLY good, and he even starts to bloom a relationship with Kat Manx, the head scientist of SPD. He cares very deeply about everyone he regards as a friend, and has even respect for his enemies, refusing to underestimate them. Also helps that he was one of my first furry crushes :P. Well, as furry as you can get with a kinda scaley dog-man. He's voiced by John Tui who also plays Daggeron in Mystic Force! Also the suit was actually animatronic with moving components!
Jack Landors a.k.a. SPD Red Ranger
The Red Ranger, the leader, Jack Landors. Formerly a small-time criminal who has the ability to phase through solid matter, tending to end up helping those less fortunate than steal for himself. When he's caught by the first three SPD B-Squad rangers, he is offered the oppurtunity to end his sentence if he joins the team. He disagrees at first, but later accepts and morphs into the Red Ranger. He butts heads with Sky, the Blue Ranger, as Sky feels he deserved to be the Red Ranger, due to his father being the Red Ranger previously. Jack proves himself worthy throughout the series and becomes even good friends with Sky, and a worthwhile leader to the rangers.
He's one of my favorite Rangers as well, and my favorite red ranger in the Power Rangers series by far. He overcomes all doubts from his team, his commanders, and becomes a strong leader, despite any missteps in his past. I like that he isn't immediately willing to join SPD, even if he wants to help people, and that that's the reason he finally DOES join. He is fiercely loyal, willing to even lay down his life to save Earth and those he cares for. He also isn't afraid to call out Cruger on bullshit, something even other rangers tend to stay away from. He's also one of the (unfortunately) few black red rangers! He's fantastic.
Bridge Carson a.k.a. SPD Green Ranger
The strangest ranger who wears that with pride, Bridge Carson, the Green Ranger. He is a shining example of a fantastic "comic relief" character who can also easily carry heavy emotional moments, and be taken just as serious and be competent. He has no qualms with any of the other rangers, though they find his quirks strange and annoying at times, but never more than that. He was gifted with the ability of Psychometry, so he can sense auras. This leads to some great detective moments as he uses that to track people and items down singlehandedly. He actually wears gloves when not using his abilities, as his powers are so potent, that not having his hands covered would cause him to be constantly observe everyone's auras, which would lead to a complete overload to his senses.
Bridge is autistic. While this is not technically canonical, he is seen as odd by others for literally "functioning differently", not understanding social cues and sarcasm, even the aforementioned gloves for sensory issues, albeit extrasensory reasons. He's incredibly detail oriented as well, leading him to be the hands down best detective of the team when you also add in his psychometry. He has a lot of strange quirks, such as doing handstands to think better, and always doing a wiggly hand gesture when talking about how he likes his toast "Buttery" (a gesture I still repeat to this day.). He also has a fantastic relationship arc in the show with a girl named Sophie, which I won't spoil but it is BEAUTIFUL.
